STORIES ARE FOREVER
When we don’t tell our stories, others will do it for us and something is often lost in translation
In Kenya, and much of Africa, our TV screens, movie theaters, and socials are dominated by foreign productions. We’re constantly exposed to gorgeous distant lands in glorious 4k that feel familiar only because we’ve seen them our entire lives.
Even when African stories make it to the screen, they’re often portrayed through a lens that is somewhat less flattering. Characters are one-dimensional, settings are overly dramatized, and the struggles are exaggerated. It’s time to change that narrative.
At 42 Pictures, we are a community of passionate Kenyans from the shadow of Africa’s largest dumpsite, determined to take control of our stories. Our mission is to empower and inspire the next generation of film and television creators, digital marketers, and independent producers.
Through comprehensive training, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we aim to provide the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive in the world of content creation. We believe that the film industry is a powerful vehicle for social, cultural, political, and economic development. Our vision is to become a leading organization that supports young talents in becoming successful independent content creators, producers, and entrepreneurs in the entertainment and digital marketing sectors. Join us in reshaping the narrative and celebrating authentic African stories.
